Mary Mott

As Ambulance Chief, Mary Mott directs and oversees the daily operations of East Hampton Village Ambulance. This is her third term as Chief, a role she previously held from 1997-2000 and 2007-2010. (Mary served as Assistant Chief from 1994-1997, 2005-2007, and 2008-2009.)

Mary is an EMT-Critical Care Technician with more than 35 years of active service. She joined EHV Ambulance in order to make a positive difference within the community. “Every single day you can help people,” she says. “You are given the opportunity to change lives on a daily basis by being at the center of people’s life-changing moments. It is the EMS Provider’s caring presence, skills, and knowledge that will directly bring about a positive outcome for their patient.”

Mary is a New York State Department-of-Health-Certified Instructor Coordinator. Since 1990, she has been a NYS Basic Life Support Skills Evaluator and has taught the EMT class in Sag Harbor through the Suffolk County EMS Academy. During the course, she says, “students become more knowledgeable, competent, and confident with the development of their EMT skill set. Throughout the length of the course, the student experiences tremendous personal growth and a feeling of accomplishment and pride. The class members begin as strangers and complete the course as supportive, good friends. It is a great feeling for them, and it is a great feeling for me knowing that I was a part of the beginning of their EMS journey.”

Outside of EMS, Mary enjoys family, friends, activities with her grandchildren, watching her grandkids’ sporting events, and gardening.
