Kent Howie

As Senior Building Inspector, J. Kent Howie’s job is to ensure that village buildings, including residences, are structurally safe and that zoning rules and regulations are adhered to.

To make these determinations, Kent conducts site visits and examines plans, blueprints (technical drawings of plans), and specifications (written descriptions of plans) to decide whether a building permit or Certificate of Occupancy can be issued. Kent works with engineers, contractors, builders, and property owners to modify and correct plans when needed, in order to bring properties or proposed projects into compliance.

Additionally, Kent investigates complaints of violations of building and/or zoning regulations. His position requires staying up-to-date with new building materials, codes and ordinances.

Kent has been a Senior Building Inspector with the Village since 2014.
