Gerry Turza
As Fire and Emergency Medical Services Administrator, Gerry Turza manages the behind-the-scenes duties that support the personnel – both volunteer and paid — who serve our community in the Fire and EMS Departments. Since his appointment in May 2023, Gerry has been managing vital paperwork; strategizing long-term department goals; and working with municipal partners to ensure the Village meets County, State, and Federal requirements.
Gerry joined the Village team in 1995 as a part-time Public safety Dispatcher, taking on the role full-time in 2001 and becoming Shift Supervisor in 2006. He has been a fire services Volunteer since 1992, serving in Bridgehampton for thirteen years – first as a firefighter and then as Assistant Chief. Gerry transferred to East Hampton in 2005, becoming the department’s Assistant Fire Chief in 2015. He served as the Chief Engineer of the Village’s Fire Department from 2018-2022.
Gerry is currently the Chairman of the Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services Commission and a Deputy Chief Instructor at Suffolk County Fire Academy. He has lived in East Hampton for more than 30 years.
